Let your freak flag fly
at DORKBOT, the monthly meeting for artsy nerds and nerdy artists. Founded by a Columbia University researcher, this group for "people doing strange things with electricity" welcomes scientists and hobbyists alike to show off their latest innovations. Tonight's event focuses on music, and features discussions about a laptop orchestra, open source audio-segmenting software and customized wind controllers. If you can make sense of that - or want to - stop by. 7 p.m., Location One, 26 Greene Street (Grand Street), SoHo.
A friend of mine went to one of these dorkbot events in a Texas parking lot (yes, a parking lot!) and said it was quite a sight to see so it might be worth stopping by, but it may up your geek status.
