We need to do something, damnit!!!

For a long time we've all known that something is amiss with our government. Whether you're a Democrat or Republican, liberal or conservative you can't deny there is something wrong with the state of affairs. This country will always be divided on issues such as abortion, going to war, religion and the issue which no one ever agrees on...$$$. As Americans, though, there are things that we can no longer continue to ignore and they affect everyone. All of the [older, white, rich] men in charge of this country getting even richer by selling us out and keeping us in the dark. Sitting in our apartments, having heated discussions isn't going to do anything. Blogging and bitching isn't going to cut it.

Yesterday, I blogged about the take-over of major American ports by a state-owned company in Dubai. It seemed Republicans and Democrats alike were calling for a halt on this deal, or at the very least a postponement for a necessary review on the security issues regarding this matter. And what does Bush have to say when leaders of his own party say, "Hold on a minute"?

'President Bush, trying to put down a rapidly escalating rebellion among leaders of his own party, said Tuesday that he would veto any legislation blocking a deal for a state-owned company in Dubai to take over the management of port terminals in New York, Miami, Baltimore and other major American cities.'-NYTimes.com

Proponents of this deal are saying that those opposed are only exhibiting prejudice and that it's all about politics and not security issues. It couldn't possibly be that politics are exactly what are involved in wanting to push the deal through, right? And, isn't it just a little suspicious that administration officials accidentally "mishandled the matter by not briefing members of Congress early enough to avoid the outburst that resulted when the news of the deal was made public."

I have a feeling this whole situation is going to get a lot sketchier. Not to mention other goings on, such as the reclassification of thousands of historical documents that were available (to the public) for years. The question is, what can we do?! Seriously, when do "we the people" begin to take our country back and more importantly....how?!
